Frequently Asked Questions:

The initial/first session is $50. Ongoing sessions are 45 minutes and cost $200. I do not accept insurance as in-network provider but can help you get reimbursed if you have out-of-network benefits (see below).

Sessions are held once-twice a week. I generally encourage weekly sessions for at least three months before considering going to every other week.

Absolutely! If your insurance is a PPO or POS that means you have what’s called ‘out of network benefits’. I will submit the insurance claims for you so you will first pay for the session and then be reimbursed at some point by your insurance company. After meeting one’s deductible, you may be reimbursed for up to 40-80% of the costs of the session.

I’m licensed to work with clients who are physically located in New York or New Jersey.

Simply let me know that you would like to stop and we will conclude the relationship. I’m happy to help you find another therapist if you would like.

During the first session we will work on the assessment, start with what brings you to therapy, and continue with your personal and family background.

If you do not feel yourself and find yourself generally unhappy, therapy can be very beneficial for you. In short, a person will probably “know” that they need therapy because they are dissatisfied with where they are at in life.

I like to divide the therapeutic process into two stages: the acute stage and the personal growth/wellness stage. The acute stage is when the issues that you are dealing with are so overwhelming that you “need” a therapist. Clients often graduate to the growth/wellness stage after 3-6 months. Of course, the process is not linear. Personal growth may happen during the acute stage and clients may go through personal crises during the growth stage. It is up to you to decide when you feel that it is best for you to move on from therapy.

I really admire Robin William’s character in Good Will Hunting.

Absolutely. Exercising and going outdoors has been proven to help improve one’s mood. Additionally, you can download any mindfulness apps (free ones include Mindfulness Coach and Insight Timer) or search YouTube for mindfulness meditations to help ease your anxiety and improve your headspace.
