About

Ian "Yitz" Richmond, LMHC, LPC

Hi, I’m Ian! Working with others is my passion but my journey here was not linear. For a time, I thought that meant teaching, community leadership, or finance. Somewhere along the way, however, my experiences, struggles, and disappointments started to tell a story of strength and resilience. My personal journey led to a vocation of skill and strategy, commitment and compassion, meaning, and purpose.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I’ve worked with many promising young individuals who, despite their education and resources, feel anxious, stymied, and frustrated. I have deep experience working with young professionals who are struggling with workplace anxiety, difficult relationships, and an overall sense of unease and unhappiness. Through self discovery and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy you will learn the tools and techniques to unburden yourself from emotional distress. It’s time that you learn how to acknowledge, appreciate, and harness your everyday emotions.

I started off barely able to function throughout my daily life and constantly in emotional discomfort and stress. After having sessions with you for nearly a year, I can honestly say I am a different person. I am able to go about my daily life and enjoy the wealth and happiness that is so bountiful in it.

Ian’s knowledge and expertise were immediately evident as he skillfully identified and addressed my needs right from the start, knowing what I need is not only learning the cognitive behavior skillsets but also exploring the value and meaning of my life. As a finance professional, I was always asked to be emotional stable. Ian’s warm and compassionate tone creates a supportive environment where I feel comfortable expressing myself. I'm impressed by the quality of care I received and would highly recommend their services to anyone seeking effective therapy.

Ian was very warm, a professional and attentive listener. His questions and insights were very helpful during a troubled time.

Workplace Anxiety

Terrified of presentations? Feeling like a fraud? Unsure of how to navigate office politics? So much of one’s life is spent at “the office” and it makes sense that it occupies a lot of headspace. Let’s work on changing your relationship with your career.

Relationship Difficulties

Relationships . . . right?! Maybe you’re an expert at going on first dates but never getting to that second or third. Or you’re in a relationship but can’t decide if you should stay or should you go. In therapy we work, gently, on gaining clarity of what is truly important, improving an understanding of ourselves, and learning how to improve communication.

Generalized Anxiety

Are you constantly waiting for the next shoe to drop? Feeling like you’re treading water, constantly second guessing yourself, and finding that you never have a chance to breathe? It sounds like you have anxiety. That’s okay. Through tools such as mindfulness, self-reflection, and better planning clients learn how to tame the beast.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy

We all have this internal map that can potentially show us the lay of the land when it comes to our visions, goals, and priorities as individuals. As individuals, we are constantly trying to find meaning in our experiences, so it’s not uncommon for us to be confused about where to go or what to do in life. Overtime, our internal map tends to get crowded and confusing. Through Client-Centered Therapy, I can help you make better sense of where you are in your personal journey. I can help you better identify your destinations and acknowledge any necessary stopovers, and I can help you address and overcome any potential roadblocks along the way.
